Aberration to All that is Sweet and Holy

Kilian: "I think we should go out to dinner tonight."

Me: "Oh really? Who's going to pay for that?"

Kilian: "I will."

Me: "What? Why?"

Kilian: "Because money is an aberration to nature."

So spending it... is right? or wrong?

Does this make sense to anyone else?

Sometimes I'm just not in tune to the logic of my 8 year old kid.

And that kind of freaks me out a little...

He's got a great vocabulary.

Whoah, did he REALLY say that? Yeah, vocabulary -- that's some vocabulary!! Has he been swallowing dictionaries whole or what?!

Sigh... No. He didn't exactly say that "literally".

First of all, he speaks French. Sometimes I'll get an English word out of him, but it's a rare day indeed...

Second of all, he is only eight, though a more uptight about school 8 year old, I've never seen. I have to REMIND him to stop doing homework and go to bed already.

Again... I'm sure there was some basinet switching at the hospital...

However, his body language? It totally said aberration to nature.

It was spooky.

Ooooo... I thorry... I figured he didn't say that in English; I gathered it was probably in French, but I figured it was some fancy word like "aberration" in French... He's so funny though! I think it's cute that Brenna is so full of energy and spunk, and Kilian's Mr. Serious -- they're a big contrast, huh? But I imagine it must be a challenge.

I was Little Miss Serious. And I turned out OK, didn't I? (Um, OK, don't answer that! Maybe I'm a bad example...)

Yesterday we discussed what he was going to be when he grew up:

Either a vet or a speech therapist.

Brenna, by comparison, wants to be a hair dresser.

It'll be really interesting to see how they evolve...

Oh, does he ever remind me of Jack. Is he also very sensitive to perceived criticism?

jchevais said...

Yes!

He'll take himself off into a corner and sulk for no reason I can see. When he explains, I'll be all whoa! where the hell did you get that out of what I said?

Jennifer, can you send me your email address? I tried finding it on your blog, but I must be overlooking it...

I'm going to assemble a short list of names I've come across...some are agents, some are artists. I should still have a few listed for France.

Also, my school's job board has LOADS of jobs for artists...one of the women that I wrote to last week is a published writer and she was looking for a web designer for her own website. But her book was illustrated by an Academy student, believe it or not. So, there's a lot of people on there looking for talent, and it can also help you assemble a body of published work. If you'd like, I can stay on the look out for any jobs that might be of interest to you for illustration.

My ex goes to the same school and he's always sending me job listings that he thinks will interest me.

Surely, I can pay it forward. :0)
