SURPRISE !

Isn't it funny?... When you get all angsty...

When you feel that your life is a yawning pit of despair...

When you are sunk into the blue funk of your own shattering ineptitude...

When your life has become as screwed up as you think that it could possibly go...

You get an email from la maison des illustrateurs like this:

"Chere adhérente, Nous avons le plaisir de vous informer que votre illustration a été retenue par notre jury de sélection pour l’exposition « Derrière la porte… un univers d’illustrateur ». Les illustrations sélectionnées seront exposées dans notre local du 15 mars au 30 avril."

[Dear member, We are pleased to inform you that your illustration has been selected by our jury for the exhibition "Behind Closed Doors... An Illustrator's Universe". The selected illustrations will be exposed in our galleries from March 15th to April 30th]

...

...

I actually got the email yesterday but didn't post right away because I was kind of waiting for the email that said: "We're sorry, we have no idea how you got that last email because ha ha... your illo wasn't really selected. Whoo boy... We had a good laugh over here about that one. Anyway. Better luck next time."

But it's been a full 24 hours, so I think it's safe to say: Hooray!

You know... I think this is the FIRST JURIED exhibition I've ever gotten a positive answer from. All of the other exhibitions I've been involved in have sort of been student exhibits (ie, they were obliged to show something of mine), so naturally... I think this is pretty cool.

So I guess this proves that relentlessly plugging away works.

Now, I'll admit that this is not as fancy as Girl's Gone Child's recent success at plugging away...

But I guess it's a good swift kick in the right direction...
